In pursuance
Attorney General's Office, Hongkong 10th June 1856.
I have the honour to report
that the case
of the "Levant" came
on for hearing yesterday before the Justice Hulme on the Vice Admiralty side of the Supreme Court.
As this
was the first case
under the Chinese Passengers'
Act of 1855, and a very aggravated one too, I was not
unnaturally anxious that an example should be made.
